He sure is extremely bright for a student with bad grades.

A computer geek from Staten Island who took higher computer training classes at an technology camp for elite students used his talent to raid a safe computer network and change his test scores.

A sixteen year old junior from New Dorp High School, Eric Walstrom, used a computer in school and was able to successfully carry out the hack by making it past a pass code and software safety system. He then installed the network so that he could gain entry into it using his smart phone.

According to the criminal complaint launched against him, this kid completed his hacking activity from the fourteenth of December to the ninth of February during which he accessed his test reports and transcripts and changed his results. You would think that someone smart enough to raid his school’s secure networks would probably have good marks. A law enforcement source complements the teenager’s wit by saying that the DOE should probably employ him so he can reveal flaws in their safety firewalls.

Eric Walstrom’s activity was noticed when a school Information Technology employee took notice of the unofficial log-ins to the system. The school authorities alerted the police, and Eric Walstrom was detained on Wednesday.

Eric Walstrom was dealt as an adult and charged with counterfeit, computer infringement, illegal use of a cp, computer meddle and criminal ownership of fake devices.

Eric Walstrom learned that some of his technologically advanced skills at a summer camp held at numerous universities.

A sixteen year old Sean Morris, who was also at the ID Programming Camp for Teenagers, said that the summer school aims at teaching kids sophisticated computer programming and Eric Walstrom had used the information for evil purposes. He took the malicious route and focused on attacking and exploitation. He added that Eric Walstrom could probably get a job at the Secret Service later on.

The summer camp teaches computer architecture programming and cryptograming languages such as C+ and Java which most of the students use to develop their own applications and software, according to Morris.

Eric Walstrom’s class mates from New Dorp High School called him an ‘average kid’ who just is not that into school or learning.

Sean Morris further commented on Eric Walstrom by saying that he looked really bored with school and looked like someone who did not care about attending it. He also revealed that Eric had no real friends and mostly kept to himself. He definitely did not get much attention from anyone around him.

New Dorp High School got considerably ‘good’ rankings in a survey by the country’s Department of Education. The report said that approximately 75 % of kids graduate from the school.

Walstrom is the son of much-loved firefighter John Walstrom, who rescued the victims of the 9/11 attacks and passed away due to natural causes in 2013.

Both Eric and his mom declined to make comments.
