All the top notch and most renowned firms and websites are becoming vulnerable to severe hacking attacks these days. This time it is an auditing and global taxation firm known as Deloitte. As a private firm established in the U.S., it is often ranked amongst the top four accountancy firms around the globe.

Deloitte offers consultation, taxation, auditing, cybersecurity advisory, acquisition assistance services to large banks and much more! Therefore, the news of Deloitte hacking came as a major blow to numerous users of this firm.

Deloitte confirmed it officially that their systems were illegally breached by an external email system which has caused the breach of some users’ information. The information breached due to Deloitte hacking was highly classified as it contained the private email information and confidential documents of many of its clients.

It is also doubted that hackers might have had access to the inDeloitte hackedformation since the end of 2016 as the firm detected unusual activity in its email systems since October-November 2016. The Microsoft hosted email servers of Deloitte were hacked through an administrator account that was not sufficiently secured through the two factor authentication.

It is also feared that due to Deloitte hacking, hackers may also have gained access to IP addresses, usernames, passwords and much more. A Deloitte spokesperson quoted to newspaper:

In response to a cyber incident, Deloitte implemented its comprehensive security protocol and began an intensive and thorough review including mobilising a team of cybersecurity and confidentiality experts inside and outside of Deloitte. As part of the review, Deloitte has been in contact with the very few clients impacted and notified governmental authorities and regulators.

Deloitte hackThis is one of the most major hacks in recent past which includes the hack of Equifax and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that had repercussions for not only the administration but also for millions of users! However, it is surprising that after Deloitte hacking, only a few of its users have been informed of the hack.
