In the midst of top trending hacking news nowadays, hackers are attempting hackings in almost every aspect: from hoverboards to Windows and even power stations. However, a unique aspect that no one would have paid attention to is being targeted by hackers: TV series hacking. Claims of episodes of Game of Thrones leaked are circulating.

If you are familiar with Game of Thrones series and you are a follower of this series, then there is a good news for you as the hackers have successfully hacked 1.5 Terabytes amount of data from HBO servers which contain numerous episodes not aired yet and also scripts to the fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season 7. Taking HBO authorities by surprise, the company has acknowledged the hack to some extend in a press released statement:

“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information,” the company confirmed the hack in a statement.

“We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”

The hackers informed about their success to various media houses and reporters by anonymous email sent on Sunday. Following this email, hackers released the episodes of “Ballers” and “Room 104” and also a script that described the new episode of Game of Thrones. The hackers claim to release more Game of Thrones leaked data soon. The email that the hackers sent was as following:

“Hi to all mankind. The greatest leak of cyber space era is happening. What’s its name? Oh, I forget to tell. It’s HBO and Game of Thrones……!!!!!!

You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak. Enjoy it & spread the words. Whoever spreads well, we will have an interview with him.”

If this story of such an enormous amount of data of Game of Thrones being leaked is true then it will surely be a challenge for HBO considering that it is their second major experience of being hacked since 2015 when the first four episodes of Game of Thrones Season 5 were leaked.

The hackers haven’t yet disclosed their identity but if what they claim of episodes and scripts of Game of Thrones leaked is true then it is a good news for Game of Thrones followers and a point of distress for HBO.
