Today the most popular attack is phishing attack. It is basically done to fill your inbox.
In this attack , the hacker will trap you in a way that you will be forced to send him your password via a link which will looks like a real , true , legitimate page of website login. The moment you type your password in to such pages , your password will be hacked by bad people sitting out there.
Google launched a new tool which is a great way of avoiding all such fake logins. This is called password alert. This alert will sniff the hacker ‘s websites which are trap placed for naïve people.
The new Google chrome browser has extension that alerts you whenever you enter your passwords and other details into non verified or non Google sites. It identify fake websites prior to your login which is tough but too good for people.
Justin kosslyn who works as Google ideas product manager ,told fortune about this new password alert that it works just like a spell checker , it reads the length of password typed in. ChromE stores a half of fingerprint of the password and if it identifies that password is used somewhere else it sets off alarm. It is based on match terminology, if it matches then prompt alarm.
In past this Google password extension has stopped and identified various real world phishing attack on googles so after its success they have made this Google tool open source for people.
Google also save guard you from hackers by giving you two step authentication whenever you use any social site or bank. This two step authentication works on the concept of sending you a one time password, known as OTP on your mobile phones. Once you authenticate your account with OTP , Google gets to know that the account is accessed by authorized user. This ensures safety and data security.
