Just a week ago, SyScan Conference called out hackers to hack the Tesla Motors Inc’s (TSLA) software security systems.
The interesting stuff was the reward, that was very huge (US$10,000,) and A team from Zhejiang University claimed the top prize of US$10,000 at the Symposium on Security for Asia Network (SyScan360.)
Finally, Tesla Model S has been hacked by the team from Zhejiang University.
As Tesla said last week, that they are going to built their car non-vulnerable and if any hack found for Tesla, they are going to improve that and also learn more things from the wining hackers.
“We support the idea of providing an environment in which responsible security researchers can help identify potential vulnerabilities,” the company said on Wednesday.
“We hope that the security researchers will act responsibly and in good faith.”
What was the Hack?
Hackers exploited a “flow design flaw” which allows an attacker to gain access to the Tesla car’s system, through which attackers can remotely unlock the vehicle, sound the horn and flash the lights and also open the sunroof while the car in motion.
Now, What remains, the complete car has been hacked :p
Organisers have reported the loopholes to the Tesla.
“These new cars, especially hybrids, have a lot more software in them that has to be updated – these paths haven’t really been probed yet by hackers,” John Pescatore, director for emerging security trends at the Sans Institute, told Fox News last week.
“I assume for any electric car there’s a huge amount of software to optimise and control things.”
I thing there should be one more event for hackers, to find more loopholes in Tesla Model S, as they want to make the car Vulnerability-Proof :)
