Photo- Pro-Palestinian Message wrote by hackers on the defaced websites

Hacker group with twitter handle @KdmsTeam hacked and defaced three websites with pro-Palestine message, hackers titled the websites “You Got Pwned.”

Websites hacked by KDMS Team:

  1. WhatsApp—a messaging app being used worldwide.(Screenshot)
  2. Avira—a German multinational and family-owned antivirus software company.(Screenshot)
  3. AVG—a computer security software company.(Screenshot)

All of the three websites above were hacked some hours ago, hackers tweeted:

How the websites got hacked?

We checked Domain name resolution of whatsapp.com from Whois database to check, which I.P Address was assigned to it, and found that the I.P Address was changed today, so it is clear that rest of two websites were also hacked through the same process, but the question is—how hackers were able to access their DNS settings?

All of the three websites were defaced by same page, below is the screenshot of that page:

Websites’ status at the time of reporting:

  1. Whatsapp—DOWN
  2. Avira—HACKED (showing the defaced page)
  3. AVG—RECOVERED

UPDATE: All of the three websites were registered through Network Solutions, it is also possible that hackers successfully managed to breach Network Solution systems. Kaspersky’s Aleks Gostev says Avira’s email is also affected.

UPDATE2: As we wrote above, it could be a DNS Hijacking, and yes it was just like that, Avira confirms about the hack of Network Solutions, Avira Security Expert and Product Manager Sorin Mustaca said in a mailed statement to softpedia:

“It appears that several websites of Avira as well as other companies have been compromised by a group called KDMS. The websites of Avira have not been hacked, the attack happened at our Internet Service Provider ‘Network Solutions’,”
